Proudly South African brand launches at Edgars department stores
Youth month is particularly special for local skin care brand, Michael Mikiala Men, as they launched at select Edgars department stores nationwide on the eve of Youth Day, 15 June 2013. This is not only a feat for a young company, but for the South African cosmetic industry at large.
Michael Mikiala Men entered the market in 2010 as a fresh new grooming offering specifically designed to cater to the skin care needs of African men. Their journey over the past two and a half years has been one of growth and redefinition. Michael Mikiala Men started off with a four product offering under one range, and has now launched at Edgars department stores with four different ranges consisting of twelve different products.
African men now have a viable alternative through a brand that has specifically formulated products to address their skin care concerns. Razor bumps are one such problem that Michael Mikiala Men products treat. Their bump lotion has proven to be one of their best selling products thus far.
"Own Your Skin" is Michael Mikiala Men's campaign for their Edgars department stores launch. The campaign showcases a variety of skin types encouraging men to take ownership of their skin no matter what their age, shade or skin type, suggesting that there is a Michael Mikiala Men product for all of them. Michael Mikiala Men's ranges consist of a Pure range, a Sensitive range, an Intensive Razor Bumps range, and an Intensive Pigmentation range.
Michael Mikiala Men is a lifestyle brand that speaks to an array of African men. Their pre-launch campaign consists of a variety of lifestyle talking points presented both visually and as physical touch points with consumers, and is definitely worth keeping an eye out for.

GetPaid sweaters now out
YFM Radio DJ and SABC 1 television personality, DJ Sabby, has recently launched his GetPaid brand.
"#GetPaid is an urban oriented lifestyle that I have always wanted to drop but I wanted to do it at the right time. When you're young and ambitious all you really want is to get your break and get your money right. Whatever your hustle, you have to #GetPaid at the end of the day. It's a brand I believe young people will relate to and wear to emphasize the importance of being ambitious and going out there getting your share of the Gold" shares DJ Sabby.
The first merchandise to be released under the GetPaid brand are winter sweaters. The sweaters come in black, green, yellow and purple. More colors will be available soon to the public. The graphics play on the popular occurring topic of #TeamNoSleep that many young ambitious entrepreneurs use on social media networks. R299 will get you a GetPaid sweater. Free deliver included.

AKA opens for Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion in JHB
Johannesburg, 14 May 2013 – G&G Productions has officially announced the addition of South African Award Winning Hip-Hop Star, AKA, as an opening act for the Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion concert taking place this Sunday, 19 May 2013, in Johannesburg at the Ellis Park Indoor Arena.
This addition to open up for Snoop Lion comes as one of numerous openings AKA has done for international acts, most recently opening up for Kanye West and Kid Cudi. Concert goers will definitely be pleased with the addition of AKA to the line-up as AKA is known to hold his own and more when sharing stages with international acts on such platforms.
The 'big dawg' of West Coast rap, Snoop Lion is confirmed to play two concerts in South Africa this May. One in Johannesburg at the Ellis Park Indoor Arena on 19 May 2013 and the other in Cape Town at the Grand West Casino on 21 May 2013. Legendary for his lazy drawl and his gangster persona, Snoop Lion is making his way to South Africa to promote new material from his forthcoming reggae and dancehall-inspired album, "Reincarnated". Long-time fans of Snoop Lion won't be disappointed as Snoop Lion is said to perform live renditions of smash-hit singles like 'Gin & Juice', 'Drop It Like It's Hot' and 'Young, Wild and Free'.
AKA will be giving away tickets to the Snoop Lion concert via his various social media platforms. Keep posted to his Facebook page and Twitter account today and tomorrow to stand a chance to win.
AKA recently dropped the latest single and video, Kontrol, off his upcoming album LeveLs.
